biography

Katie Thomas brings a decade of experience working on energy and environmental policy and legislation, having most recently served as Staff Director for the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Subcommittee on the Environment for Rep. Ro Khanna. Prior to that, she spent more than five years as Senior Policy Advisor for Energy and Environment to Senator Bernie Sanders. During that time, Katie advised the Senator on energy, environmental, and tribal and territorial issues in the Senate office and both the 2016 and 2020 Presidential campaigns. Katie worked as an Associate Attorney for Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke, P.C. before she went to work on Capital Hill where she advised municipal and cooperatively-owned electric utilities, state governments and Tribes. Katie holds a Juris Doctor, with a certificate in energy law, and a Master of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School and is admitted to practice law in Colorado. She currently lives in San Diego with her fiancee and their five pets.
